5. Danh từ ghép & cụm danh từ
Danh từ ghép (compound nouns)
- N + N: car park, classroom, road accident, coral reef, food chain, city life
- Adj + N: greenhouse, small talk, highland, national park, natural resources, tropical forest
- V + N: breakwater, runway
- V-ing + N: living room, wedding ring, living things
Danh từ đứng trước làm "tính từ" thì để ở dạng số ít: a shoe shop (không phải shoes shop), a ten-year-old boy, time management strategies. Danh từ chính (đứng cuối) mới chia số nhiều: shoe shops, case studies.
Cấu trúc cụm danh từ
Từ hạn định (a/an/the, my, this, some…) + (trạng từ) + (tính từ) + (danh từ bổ nghĩa) + DANH TỪ CHÍNH
- an extremely interesting book (adv đứng trước adj, không phải
an interesting extremely book) - a practical learning experience, modern learning equipment, real-life case studies, a strong sense of confidence
- Từ hạn định gồm: mạo từ (a/an/the) · tính từ sở hữu (my/your/his/her/its/our/their) · đại từ chỉ định (this/that/these/those) · lượng từ (many/much/some/any/most/other/another…)
Trật tự tính từ (OSASCOMP): Opinion – Size – Age – Shape – Colour – Origin – Material – Purpose + N. VD: a beautiful small old wooden souvenir shop → "souvenir" (mục đích) luôn sát danh từ: a wooden souvenir shop.
